It seems instagram has become insta-hip with admirers like Oscar Raymundo going over the moon-do about it with his 10 Must-Follow Users On Instagram (and just so you know that list of 10 numbered 20). Oscar wrote a column over at HuffPo and then followed up with the 20 posts at his blog Confessions of a Boy Toy. I like how Oscar chose several 'hottest' that didn't even feature men - while I won't tell which of the men was my favorite I will say I love trashhand and chrisozer. And while some of you are scratching your heads & wondering what any of this has to do with literature, I say: please click the links and do a writing exercise. Choose a photo & write 10 minutes on whatever comes to mind first.
Another user of instagram is one of the first writers to ever read at homo-centric, Steven Tagle. Steven posted this instagram photo last week and I love, love, love it. For me it speaks to what we all go through as writers & creators: Chapter 5 percolates. I'm sharing this (with Steven's okay) and hoping it inspires somebody somewhere somehow to write some words. I'm also hoping that Mr. Tagle might come read some of chapter 5 at homo-centric once it's done percolating. Perhaps a summer brew?

what is homo-centric?
homo-centric is a monthly reading series curated by Hank Henderson. The series is hosted by Stories Books & Cafe in Echo Park and takes place the 3rd Thursday of every month. By offering this space for LGBTQI writers to gather & share their words we hope to create a renewed sense of community. There's a hunger for connection and a wonder about our collective history that needs to be nurtured and continued.
